I finally resorted to cutting my finger nail off. Not the entire thing, just the 6th or so of it that was already coming off. It was starting to catch and pull, so I nipped it in the bud before it ripped off the entire top portion. I considered posting a picture of it for the world to see, but thought the better of it. I don't want any of you vomiting on your keyboards.
