I like to think that I don't place a big emphasis on material things. Completely unnecessary material things. Such as the new Droid Eris that I got on Friday. After hearing that I officially have been offered the forest service job for the Summer, I promptly went out and got myself a new phone.
My new smrtphone
Its a lot of fun, figuring out all the different things I can do on it, how I can customize it, which apps I want to download. I never thought I would have a phone this fancy, so its a little strange to me to be enjoying it so much. I have even put a picture of mudcracks as my wallpaper, so that the phone looks a little more rugged and a little less office-bound. With email, internet, and all sorts of fun toys, its quite the electronic attention-sucker. I am hoping that soon all of the new appeal will wear out and I will return to a (nearly) normal state of not really caring about something so petty and unimportant. But until that happens, I will continue to put new pictures on it, and scan random bar codes of items in my room to see what they cost and where I can buy them.
I also got another very pretty thing recently. My roommate came home from school one day bearing gifts and gave to me a Jane Austen anthology.
It is one of those books that my children will look at and be intimidated by. I am excited to start reading it! And yes, the pages are gold.
