Extendo-date

Yesterday, before I frantically did my homework because I had forgotten I had some due, D and I had an extended date.  It started in the early afternoon when we rode along the Centennial Trail.  Since we knew we had to return to town to go to dinner and a poetry reading, we stopped at one of the upper dams along the Spokane River, found a bench, and played a game of cribbage.  Well, a half game.  And I won.  It was a great day for a ride- neither particularly warm nor cold, a little overcast, but still beautiful... especially the river.  There were a number of spots that I would love to have secluded away on my property, where I could go spend hours just sitting on a limb over the river. Perhaps in the future I will have that opportunity.  For now, we rode back into town, where we ate at our usual, the Steelhead.  We both got something different than our respective usuals.  But we got the same thing, so, yes, we were that couple.

The poetry reading was not that long, and was my first.  It was a poet/professor at EWU who, I believe, just published a book of his works.  I had the opportunity to meet D's English prof, whom she has said looks like Jenny Schecter.  Yes, yes she does.  Even to the dark, straight hair with the long, flat-chop bangs.  And her clothes were even Schecter-esq (although on this particular occasion she had a jean vest on, which I'm not sure Jenny would wear).  I now wish I could just observe this professor while she teaches.  Would I judge her?  Would I keep thinking, over and over, you're a bitch! DIE JENNY DIE! But don't, because when that happens, the writers will make us feel sympathy for you, and then feel bad about hating you.

After the poetry reading, we went on another jaunt on our bikes.  This time through town, taking a tour of Browne's addition- which is where we hope to move to next fall.  It is old and cute, and a relatively hippie/progressive/lgbt-accepting part of town.  Hence our desire to move there.

By the end of the day, I think both of us were pleasantly sore and happy with ourselves.  It truly was a great day.  And the best part of it is that when I talked to my sister (well, left her a voicemail) I told her that we were on a ride, then were going to dinner and a poetry reading, and I sounded rather like a real person.  Which seems to be happening to me more and more these days.  Though, I can't promise I wont also sometimes have tickling and wrestling matches with D ;-)  They are just to fun to ever give up.
